Democratic front-runner Hillary Clinton addressed gun violence at a town hall in New Hampshire on Friday, rallying against the NRA and calling for sensible gun ownership.
"I'm not against guns," the former secretary of state told crowds gathered at a town hall in Keene, New Hampshire, she added "My dad taught me to shoot when I was a little girl. I've even gone duck hunting with my dad in Arkansas!"
The town hall opened with an emotional speech from a Keene local who almost lost her life to a gunshot wound. Clinton focused her speech on making sure that guns don't get into the hands of people who should not have them or do not know how to use them.
Clinton claimed that unlike what many Republican candidates believe, she isn't in favor of eradicating guns from the country entirely. She instead focused her efforts on encouraging gun owners to rebel against the NRA and form their own lobby, as the NRA is an "absolutist" organization that doesn't believe in common sense gun reform.
"As president I will push and achieve universal background checks. Something the majority of Americans support and something the majority of responsible gun owners support," Clinton added.
