CBS is rejecting advertisements for a new movie that offers an empathetic look at Dan Rather's fallout with the network's news division, according to a new report.

Sony Pictures Classics, the film's distributor, sought to purchase millions of dollars worth of ad space across CBS programming but was denied, according to Callahan Adveritising, which places ads for Sony, the Associated Press reported Friday.

The movie, "Truth," centers on how the Killian documents controversy fell out in 2004, when on CBS' news magazine "60 Minutes," Rather presented forged documents that questioned President George W. Bush's National Guard service.

One of the targeted ad slots for the film was during "60 Minutes," according to the Associated Press.

CBS has denounced the film as an inaccurate retelling of events.
