With Thanksgiving upon us, not to mention all the other opportunities to over-indulge during the holidays, this unusual workout may be able to put some of the guilt to the side.
Trainer Ary Nuñez is responsible for shaping the bodies of such celebrities as Rihanna, Alicia Keys and Kat DeLuna, to name a few. Her signature “Modern Day Ninja Method” incorporates nine different martial art forms and her years of experience as a professional dancer.
“I consider all my clients to be celebs. This is a moment of revival for women taking care of ourselves. I’m not motivated by money or fame. My goals are to empower women. And I’m an artist whose platform is fitness,” Nuñez told Fox News Latino.
Nuñez, a Dominicana who grew up in New York City, started studying both dance and karate when she was five years old. She became an elite Nike-sponsored athlete in 2000.
Her father, a cab driver, was mugged and killed while working when Nuñez was 10 years old. She says the loss made her the overachieving, tough-as-nails woman she is today, and pushed her to give back to her Latino community and mentor Latina girls.
Much of her work focuses on slow and steady, with an emphasis on building strength and even a bit of self-defense.
Whether it’s fighting off the paparazzi or a smarmy guy on the street, Nuñez’s system keeps celebs in shape and at their fighting weight.
