Girl, 4, Impales Herself After Falling on Metal Stake

A 4-year-old Australian girl impaled herself on a metal stake while playing in a shed.

The girl was at her family's property, near the Blue Mountains in New South Wales, when she fell and severely injured herself.

Doctors and paramedics stabilized the girl before she was flown to a hospital — with her father by her side.

She suffered serious injuries but arrived at The Children's Hospital at Westmead conscious and in a stable condition a short time later, a spokesman said.
