Florida Girl, 12, Likely Paralyzed After Fall From Amusement Park Ride

The father of a 12-year-old girl critically injured after falling 100 feet at a Wisconsin Dells amusement park says his daughter is awake and stable, but likely will have some paralysis.

Alex Marti says he thought his daughter, Teagan, had not survived the fall from the Terminal Velocity ride at the Extreme World amusement park on Friday.

Marti, a radiologist from Parkland, Fla., said his daughter hasn’t spoken since the accident, but has movement in her right hand. She has no major brain injuries, he said.

Teagan Marti is being treated at American Family Children's Hospital in Madison.

Family attorney Stuart Grossman said at a news conference today that the Martis will be pursuing legal action against Extreme World.

Police say operators of the free fall ride failed to raise a catch net 40 feet above ground, causing the girl to fall 100 feet and hit the ground.

The amusement park, which operated the ride, was closed Friday and Saturday, but has since reopened. The ride remains closed.

The Sauk County district attorney will review the case.
