Florida boy to attend Wounded Warrior amputee softball camp

MIAMI -- A Florida child isn't letting his disability get in the way of his big-league dreams.

Twelve-year-old Tyler Jacques of Palm Coast will join 19 other children from across the country this week in Kentucky. They will take part in a five-day softball camp for disabled children run by veterans of the Afghanistan and Iraq wars.

Jacques' left leg was amputated below the knee because of complications from his premature birth.

Many of the vets are also amputees and will teach the kids to hit and run and adapt to their disabilities. The Wounded Warriors' motto is "life without a limb is limitless."

On Friday, the kids will play a softball game at Louisville Slugger Field. The 13,000-seat stadium is the home of the Louisville Bats, the Cincinnati Reds' Triple-A affiliate.
