Major League Baseball made sure Wednesday that the New York Yankees knew not to use players’ likenesses to promote the sale of alcohol at Yankee Stadium this season.
The league issued a warning to the Yankees after the faces of sluggers Giancarlo Stanton and Aaron Judge were among those to appear in beer foam at a media event at the stadium Monday, Newsday reported.
The 27-time World Series champion organization explained it was just showcasing a new feature.
The Yankees said in a statement they had no plans to use the images at the ballpark during games, according to Bleacher Report.
"Our hospitality team took Monday's event as an opportunity to test the image machine with various Yankees-related logos and photos," a team spokesman said. “However, the Yankees have no current plans of incorporating this decorative element on concessions items this season.”
MLB doesn’t allow active players to be involved in any advertising featuring alcohol, according to Newsday. The paper reported that the team was quickly issued a “cease-and-desist order.”
Blue Point Brewing Company offered the slick beers featuring Stanton, Judge, Gary Sanchez and Aroldis Chapman.
It doesn’t look like the fans will be enjoying any foam art any time soon.
