Mother Earth Brew Co., a craft brewery based in Southern California, is promoting their newly launched six-pack with a “Got cans?” campaign.
The brewery debuted the full ad via their Facebook page which reads:
“Since the dawn of humanity we have been sustained by nourishment from our mothers. But never has such nourishment been so convenient and publicly acceptable. Love your cans. Love your Mother.”
(function(d, s, id) { var js, fjs = d.getElementsByTagName(s)[0]; if (d.getElementById(id)) return; js = d.createElement(s); js.id = id; js.src = "//connect.facebook.net/en_US/all.js#xfbml=1"; fjs.parentNode.insertBefore(js, fjs); }(document, 'script', 'facebook-jssdk'));
The new post has sparked a host of reactions from accusations of sexism to those who find it a tongue in cheek way to reference the breast feeding movement.
"Aaaaaaand that's the last Mother Earth I ever drink," wrote user Richard Garfinkel.
Mercedes Alcoser wrote an impassioned post that shamed Mother Earth for being "out of touch with its female clientele" and asks guys to think before defending the ad.
