Singer Adele announces she is pregnant with first child

Grammy award-winning songstress Adele announced Friday she is pregnant with her first child.

"I've got some news," the 24-year-old told fans on her website. "I'm delighted to announce that [boyfriend] Simon [Konecki] and I are expecting our first child together.

"I wanted you to hear the news direct from me, obviously we're over the moon and very excited but please respect our privacy at this precious time. Yours always, Adele xx"

The British singer won Album of the Year at the 54th annual Grammy Awards earlier this year for "21," her second studio album.
