A list of prominent rappers who have been gunned down in shooting incidents since 1987:
• Scott La Rock, killed in 1987 in the Bronx; believed to be the first high-profile rap slaying.
• Stretch, murdered execution-style in Queens on November 30, 1995.
• Tupac Shakur, shot four times in a drive-by shooting in Las Vegas on Sept. 7, 1996.
• Notorious B.I.G., killed March 9, 1997, in a drive-by shooting in Los Angeles.
• Fat Pat, fatally shot in 1998 while at the house of a Texas concert promoter.
• Big L, shot and killed in Harlem on the night of Feb. 15, 1999.
• Bugz, shot three times with a rifle and run over by a car on May 21, 1999, at Detroit’s Belle Isle Park after an altercation involving a squirt gun.
• Jam Master Jay, shot dead in 2002 in a Queens, New York recording studio.
• Proof, 32, killed April 11, 2006, in a gun battle at a Detroit after-hours club.
• VL Mike, died April 20, 2008 after he was shot in New Orleans.
• Dolla, killed May 18, 2009, in a shooting at a Beverly Hills shopping mall.
