Jenny should find a new block.
That’s what some residents of Jennifer Lopez’s Bronx, N.Y., hometown are saying to the songstress, who is offering fans a free concert this week at a local park.
According to the New York Daily News, Lopez is expected to give a free concert June 4 at Pelham Bay Park, and residents of the surrounding City Island neighborhood say the fandemonium will cause chaos, gridlock and human congestion that will unfairly inconvenience all involved.
Bill Stanton, president of the City Island Civic Association, has written a letter about his concerns to Parks Commissioner Mitchell Silver and NYPD Commissioner Bill Bratton.
Stanton’s letter details his concern that 25,000 visitors are expected to attend the concert next to City Island, which has about 4,500 residents. He also says that no local official or the local community board was consulted regarding the music event, the paper reported.
Stanton also shared in his letter his worries about illegal parking, litter and standstill traffic – scenarios he says the neighborhood experienced a few years ago when there was simply a rumor Lopez would appear in the park.
