Harvey Weinstein accuser trying to rebuild acting career

One of Harvey Weinstein’s accusers is trying to rebuild her acting career, her lawyer said in court Wednesday.
“For her, having a voice and bringing this case changed her life,” Jeffrey Herman said of his client, aspiring British actress Kadian Noble, who filed a sex-trafficking lawsuit against Weinstein in 2017.
“Since filing the lawsuit she has moved back to the US and is restarting her career,” Herman said outside Manhattan federal court following a hearing. “She had given up on her career about eight months before the whole story broke.”

Noble’s suit claims that in 2014 Weinstein lured her to a hotel room in Cannes, France, and sexually assaulted her.
Judge Robert Sweet heard arguments from Weinstein’s lawyer on Wednesday to pause the case so they can appeal Sweet’s decision to allow the case to proceed despite Weinstein’s attorneys’ argument that nothing of value was exchanged between the pair (something that must be proved in civil sex-trafficking claims).

Sweet seemed to indicate that he will rule in Noble’s favor and block Weinstein from appealing to a higher court mid-case, noting no other judges’ rulings have conflicted with his.

In January, another Manhattan judge issued a similar ruling, which said that a suit by another Weinstein accuser, Alexandra Canosa, could go forward.
