A troubled Russian beauty queen who faces a string of narcotics and shoplifting charges was thrown into jail Tuesday for failing to comply with court orders, The New York Post reported.

Former Miss Russia Anna Malova was held without bail after failing to report on time for court-mandated drug treatment program evaluations, which stem from her 2010 indictment for prescription-forging.

Criminal Court Judge Ellen Coin also cited the ex-beauty queen's March 2011 shoplifting arrest at a clothing store in downtown Manhattan when remanding her.

Malova, 39, looked confused as court officers led her back to a courthouse holding cell.

"She's very upset. She knows that she has a problem and she has been doing her very best to address it," said her lawyer, Robert Gottlieb.

Malova was arrested in February 2010 for swiping prescription pads from a psychiatric office, then forging prescriptions in order to buy painkillers.

In March 2011, she was slapped with a 44-count felony narcotics indictment for continuing to use the forged prescriptions, even after her 2010 arrest.

Malova had shown up as much as four hours late for her evaluation appointments for a drug treatment program that was intended to be an alternative to jail time.

She will reappear in court May 31.
