Conan O'Brien Explains 'Messed Up' Version of His Show

West Coast viewers saw a "very messed-up version" of TBS' Conan Tuesday night, Conan O'Brien said during Wednesday's show, explaining the technical snafu and making fun of the network's mistake.

The show's West Coast broadcast aired 23 minutes of uninterrupted commercials. When the program did finally appear, the picture was pixilated and the show appeared to be running backward at a faster speed.

"It was sort of a travesty — but we made a fortune," O'Brien joked before ultimately chalking up the mistake to a "technical glitch" at TBS' Atlanta headquarters.

But of course, Conan decided to provide viewers with a re-enactment of what exactly went wrong. Watch the video clip, which shows TBS employees as hillbillies pouring "possum chili" on the "Conan West Coast feed machine." And yes, there are banjos.
