Former “Spider-Man” star Andrew Garfield thinks Peter Parker’s character doesn't have to be heterosexual.
While speaking with Mic, Garfield said he hopes to one day see a more diverse superhero world.
"I'm excited to get to the point where we don't have to have this conversation," he said, "where we can have a pansexual Spider-Man."
Garfield said he doesn’t think Peter Parker’s Spider-Man has to be in love with a woman.

"The richness of the world we're in, the diversity of the world we're in; you look at the animal kingdom and you see it reflected. You look all over," he said. "What are we so scared of? Why are we so, 'No, it has to be this way, a man and a woman.' Why is that even a conversation?"
The actor added, "We're scared of things that aren't us. Love is love. Skin is skin. Flesh is flesh. We're all wrapped in the same thing. I have no preference."
This isn’t the first time Garfield has rallied for changes to Spider-Man.
The actor once told Entertainment Weekly of Mary Jane’s character, “I was kind of joking, but kind of not joking about MJ. And I was like, ‘What if MJ is a dude?’ Why can’t we discover that Peter is exploring his sexuality? It’s hardly even groundbreaking!…So why can’t he be gay? Why can’t he be into boys?”
Garfield played Peter Parker/ Spider-Man in 2012’s “The Amazing Spider-Man” and “The Amazing Spider-Man 2,” which was released in 2014.
