UN says 2 UNICEF staff members abducted in Pakistan have been freed and are safe and well

The United Nations says two staff members of the U.N. children's agency UNICEF who were abducted in Pakistan have been freed.

U.N. spokesman Stephane Dujarric said Monday the two Pakistani nationals were abducted in the port city of Karachi on Thursday evening.

Local police led the investigation into their disappearance and they are now safe and well, he said.

Dujarric said he had no details on who abducted the staff members or how they were released.
