The Galaxy is getting some curves.

On Wednesday, Samsung introduced the Galaxy Round, the world's first curved display smartphone, in South Korea.

The Galaxy Round features a 5.7" Full HD Super AMOLED display, is 7.9 mm thick and weighs 154 grams. The phone will go on sale in Korea on October 10th.

While the Galaxy Round is curvaceous, it's still not entirely clear if there are any real added benefits for consumers.

The official Samsung blog touts the unique curved design that allows users to "take advantage of round integration experiences like the Roll Effect that enables the user to check information such as the date, time, missed calls and battery easily when home screen is off."

There is also the "Gravity Effect," which gives users "visual interaction" with the screen with a simple tilt of the device.

For example, people can go through their photos and videos with a left and right tilt.

Samsung calls this feature the "side mirror."
