LAGOS, Nigeria-- Police officials say riots have broken out again in a central Nigerian town that was the center of post-election violence earlier this year.

Police say gunmen opened fire on Christians at a church late Thursday night. Kaduna state police spokesman Aminu Lawal said at least two people died in the attack.

On Friday, a senior police official in Zonkwa and a national police spokesman told The Associated Press that rioters had been in the streets of the town.

More than 300 people died in rioting in Zonkwa after the April election that saw President Goodluck Jonathan elected. The region sits on the dividing line between Nigeria's Christian south and Muslim north.
