ISTANBUL – Turkish media reports say a helicopter has crashed in a residential area on the outskirts of Istanbul. Ambulances and fire teams have been sent to the area.

The private Dogan news agency says the fire-fighting helicopter crashed Friday in Istanbul's Buyukcekmece district.

There was no immediate word on any casualties.

The cause of the crash was not known.
