German authorities say a Tunisian man has been arrested suspected of killing two other Tunisian nationals whose remains were found in a Leipzig lake.

A swimmer last Thursday found parts of a woman's body in plastic bags in the lake on the outskirts of the eastern city. Some body parts were missing, and searchers looking for them subsequently found the remains of a man — also incomplete.

Police and prosecutors said Wednesday that both victims were Tunisians who had lived in Leipzig for several years. They said that a 36-year-old man, also from Tunisia, was arrested Tuesday on suspicion of murder.

They said that they are still investigating what the motive was and other details.
