Two people were found dead in the basement of a law firm in Germany following an armed man’s standoff with police, according to reports Monday.

Police raided the building in Stuttgart after they were called to the scene when a neighbor spotted a man entering the building carrying a handgun.

Special forces are still at the scene, while train lines in the area are suspended and nearby homes were evacuated.

Bild reported the two people found dead following the raid were the gunman and a lawyer whom he had taken hostage.

Some 100 armed officers wearing body armor gathered at the scene, but cops were unable to make contact with those inside.

Eventually, police raided the building – and discovered the two bodies in the basement.

The standoff occurred in an affluent part of eastern Stuttgart.

During the five-hour siege, surrounding homes were evacuated and nearby trains and traffic were stopped.

Forensics officers are now working at the scene.
