A jet with 53 people on board made a safe emergency landing at a Moscow airport Monday after one of the aircraft's engines failed, Russian media reported.

The CRJ-200's starboard engine "went dead," a source in emergency services told the TASS news agency.

Photos and video showed the jet landing at the airport as a few sparks flew.

The Yamal Airlines flight reportedly was headed from Moscow's Domodedovo airport to Murmansk in northwestern Russia when the engine failed. The cause was unclear.

TASS reported 50 passengers and three crew members were on board.
