Thai officials say four men who brutally attacked a British family vacationing in Thailand were sentenced to two years in prison for the assault that was captured on video and drew widespread attention.

The video showed Rosemary and Lewis Own, both in their 60s, and their 43-year-old son being punched and kicked into unconsciousness April 13 in the seaside resort town of Hua Hin.

The Hua Hin provincial court's sentence was issued May 23 but only became public this weekend when the court transcript was released, police Maj. Gen. Kasana Jamsawang said Monday.

Officials had vowed swift punishment for the four men, all in their 20s and 30s, who said they were drunk and pleaded guilty to the charge of conspiracy to commit aggravated assault.
