A hospital official says Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico will remain in a clinic in the capital, Bratislava, until the end of the week.

The 51-year-old Fico was hospitalized Thursday after underwent a cardiac examination at the National Institute of Cardiovascular Diseases.

Mongi Msolly, the clinic's director, told reporters Monday that doctors have decided he will stay hospitalized for further observation. He did not elaborate.

Fico was sworn in as prime minister again after his leftist Smer-Social Democracy party won a parliamentary election in March. He canceled his first foreign trip to neighboring Czech Republic due to health reasons last week and was scheduled to travel to Hungary and Poland this week.
