ANKARA, Turkey – Turkey's state-run news agency says police have detained four senior officials of a company linked to a U.S.-based Muslim cleric as the Turkish government continues to crack down on his movement.
The state-run Anadolu Agency says police in the central city of Kayseri detained Boydak Holding's chairman, chief executive officer and two board members on Friday, over allegations that the company provided financial support to the movement led by Fethullah Gulen.
Gulen, who has lived in the United States since 1999, was once President Recep Tayyip Errdogan's ally. The government now accuses his group of plotting to overthrow it. Gulen went on trial in absentia last year over the charges.
The government has purged civil servants suspected of ties to the movement, seized businesses and closed some media organizations.
