Officials say a leopard has wandered into a suburb south of Nepal's capital and attacked a man who was walking along a road.

The man was not seriously injured in Friday's attack.

Police official Megh Bahadur Khatri said forest guards and police were quickly called to the suburb, Kirtipur, and found the leopard inside a house, where they shot it with tranquilizer guns.

Forest officer Radha Gharti said the animal was later released in a forest north of Kathmandu.

Kirtipur is near a wooded area and wild animals occasionally enter houses in search of food.
