Far-left Greek militant group claims bomb attack in Athens

ATHENS, Greece – A far-left Greek militant group has claimed responsibility for a Nov. 24 bomb attack outside the offices of the Federation of Greek Enterprises in Athens, saying it acted in response to the country's major financial crisis.

The attack near the city's main Syntagma Square followed a warning telephone call. No one was injured, although several buildings were damaged, including the nearby Embassy of Cyprus.

The Popular Fighters Group said in a 32-page statement posted online Wednesday that Greek industrialists were helping bailout lenders lower employments standards and local business ownership.

The group has previously had claimed responsibility for a December 2013 shooting attack on the German ambassador's residence in Athens.
