TUNIS, Tunisia – Attackers have shot at a Tunisian sports magnate and legislator in a city where an Islamic extremist killed 38 tourists earlier this year.
Ridha Charfeddine was not hurt in Thursday's attack, according to senior security official Rafik Chelli. The reason for the attack is unclear.
Charfeddine is a lawmaker in the secular Nida Tunis party, president of the Etoile sportive du Sahel football team and a top shareholder in the Attassiaa TV channel, among other business interests.
Chelli told The Associated Press that Charfeddine's car was hit with at least seven bullets as he arrived Thursday in the city of Sousse.
Tunisia emerged from Arab Spring uprisings with a democracy but has been wracked by periodic violence, including two high-level political assassinations.
