Yemeni officials say airstrikes by the Saudi-coalition targeting Shiite rebels in Yemen have killed more than 15 people from the same family in the capital, Sanaa.

The security and medical officials, who remain neutral in a conflict that has splintered the country, said Monday's airstrikes hit a building in the Sanaa neighborhood of al-Hasba, destroying it and also damaging nearby buildings. They say the home that was hit was next to a rebel-controlled building, which appeared to be the intended targeted.

Yemen has been torn by a ferocious war pitting Iran-backed rebels, known as Houthis, and their allies against internationally-recognized pro-government forces.

The conflict has killed over 2,100 civilians, according to the United Nations.
