TALLINN, Estonia – Estonia's foreign minister says she is resigning following a local court ruling that connected her to the bankruptcy of her father's freight company and ordered her and other defendants to pay claims to creditors.
Foreign Minister Keit Pentus-Rosimannus said Wednesday that she disagrees with the Tallinn appeal court's ruling that she must be punished for her father's business failure. She said she would appeal the decision.
It was unclear whether the former environment minister and member of the ruling Reform Party was directly linked to her father's business.
Prime Minister Taavi Roivas, who heads a three-party governing coalition, didn't immediately appoint a replacement for Pentus-Rosimannus who was tapped as foreign minister in November.
