Air Arabia flight from Kuwait diverts to Dubai air base after passenger threat

DUBAI, United Arab Emirates – The United Arab Emirates' state news agency says a commercial plane was diverted to a military airbase in Dubai after a passenger said the plane would explode.

The WAM news agency said early Monday that the Air Arabia flight from Kuwait was boarded by authorities after landing at al-Minhad air base, which is on the outskirts of Dubai.

The news agency says authorities "took the appropriate standard procedures to deal with the situation," without elaborating.

Air Arabia is a budget carrier based in the emirate of Sharjah. It did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
