Sweden's Foreign Ministry says a Swedish national has been killed in the cyclone-ravaged Pacific island nation of Vanuatu.

Ministry spokeswoman Victoria Bell on Tuesday said "we can confirm that a Swedish man in his 80s has died."

She said the circumstances of the man's death are unclear and the ministry was trying to get more information.

Bell said the man, who wasn't identified by the ministry, had emigrated from Sweden.

The U.N. Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs reported that 11 people were confirmed dead and more than 3,000 displaced by the storm that tore through the South Pacific archipelago.
