German authorities say they've filed terrorism-related charges against a 30-year-old woman who converted to Islam and took her two young daughters to Syria, where she married a man fighting against the regime.

Munich prosecutors said Wednesday the Bavarian woman, whose name wasn't given, was charged with preparing an act of violence in Syria, but wasn't planning attacks inside Germany.

The woman traveled to Syria in 2014 with her daughters, ages 3 and 7, at the urging of another German woman she met online who was married to a member a terrorist organization fighting there. She also married the man and prepared to fight Syrian army forces.

Munich prosecutors started investigating after the children's father filed charges. The woman was arrested last May after she returned to Germany.
