Ottawa police say they have a man in custody after evacuating a hotel overnight because of what they called a possible threat.

They said there's a connection between the incident at the Chimo Hotel in Ottawa and the discovery of dangerous chemicals that led to the evacuation of two locations in the Halifax area of Nova Scotia on Tuesday.

Police say the man whom they arrested has not been charged. They declined to release his name.
