Nov. 13, 2014 - Britain's Prince William and Kate, Duchess of Cambridge arrive to attend the Royal Variety Performance, at the Palladium Theatre, in central London. The royal couple will visit the U.S. Sunday, meeting with President Obama, taking a tour of the 9/11 Memorial Museum, and attending an NBA game.
The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge will embark on a whirlwind visit to the U.S. starting Sunday, including a meeting with President Obama at the White House, a tour of the 9/11 Memorial Museum, and an NBA game.
Prince William and Kate will arrive in New York Sunday, before his royal highness travels to Washington Monday morning to meet with President Obama in the Oval Office. On his first ever visit to Washington, the prince is also expected to meet with Vice President Joe Biden and his wife, Dr. Jill Biden, a White House statement issued Friday said.
The focus of the meetings will be cooperative efforts between the U.S. and the United Kingdom to stop wildlife trafficking. Prince William will deliver remarks at the World Bank Monday to the International Corruption Hunters Alliance conference in Washington, on the corruption surrounding the illegal wildlife trade.
“The President welcomes the Prince's work in this global fight against what is both a national security threat and a devastating environmental problem,” the statement said.
The Duchess will remain in New York and is expected to visit kids at a child development center in Harlem, accompanied by the First Lady of New York City, Chirlane McCray, according to a statement released by Kensington Palace Friday.
Prince William will travel back to Manhattan to attend a reception with former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and her daughter, Chelsea, co-hosted by the Royal Foundation and the Clinton Foundation, at the British Consul General's home. The reception will recognize conservation work carried out by several wildlife conservation groups.
Monday night the royal couple will head to the Barclay Center in Brooklyn to see the Nets play the Cleveland Cavaliers, and Tuesday the two will visit the National September 11 Memorial Museum.
There are several other parties planned during their stay, a packed schedule for the pregnant Duchess, whose second child is due in April.
