13 killed, many injured in bus-truck collision in northwestern China

BEIJING – China's state news agency says a bus has collided head-on with a truck in the country's northwest, killing 13 people and injuring many others.

The Xinhua News Agency says the accident occurred Tuesday when the bus crossed the center divider of the road and plowed directly into the truck near Jiuquan city in Gansu province.

It says the dead included two people in the truck and 11 passengers on the bus, which was authorized to carry 55 people but had 61 on board, including seven children.
