BANGKOK – Thailand's Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra is facing another legal challenge after a Thai court announced it will hear a case on her alleged misconduct for transferring a key government official.
The Constitutional Court said Wednesday it had accepted a petition from anti-government senators that Yingluck violated the charter by unjustly removing the head of the National Security Council in 2011.
The official was known to be an opposition supporter.
If Yingluck is found guilty she would be removed from office.
Four months of anti-government protests have failed to unseat Yingluck, whose supporters accuse the courts of trying to oust her through unfair use of the legal system.
Several judges and top officials in agencies handling cases against Yingluck are known for their anti-government views.
