Zimbabwe's President Robert Mugabe has attended a memorial service for a 78-year-old sister who died after being critically ill for several years.

State media reported that Mugabe, who turns 90 next month, received condolences from mourners at the State House event Sunday evening. Video and photographs showed him sitting on a sofa with his wife, Grace.

Mugabe returned this month from Singapore, where he has received medical treatment in the past. His arrival was not broadcast on state television, in contrast to previous arrivals. Government officials dismissed speculation that Mugabe was in poor health and did not want to be seen in public. The longtime leader is on leave until next month.

Mugabe's sister and last surviving sibling, Bridget, had been in a coma and on life support.
