The body of a Mapuche Indian leader has been found in Chile, floating in the reservoir she spent a decade trying to prevent from being created.

The protests of 73-year-old Nicola Quintreman against the hydroelectric dam made her the face of Chile's environmental movement. She finally agreed a decade ago to a land swap so that the European-based power company Endesa could flood her property to meet the country's rising electricity needs.

Prosecutors requested an autopsy, and were expected to return her body to the family on Wednesday. Quintreman was nearly blind. Her body was found Tuesday, a day after she went missing.
