The Conservatives have drawn level with Labour, wiping out a 14 point deficit in a year, according to a survey published in Thursday's Sun.

The YouGov poll puts the parties neck and neck on 36 percent with the Liberal Democrats trailing in fourth behind UKIP.

The survey also found that the Tories had eliminated their deficit with female voters, with both parties attracting 34 percent.

"Labour has seen a double digit lead disappear in weeks," said YouGov boss Peter Kellner.

"Its summer of discontent could turn into an autumn of despair."
