A court in Thailand has convicted a dual Lebanese-Swedish citizen of illegal possession of bomb-making materials that he was storing in a warehouse outside Bangkok.

Atris Hussein was arrested Jan 12, 2012, at Bangkok's main airport. The 49-year-old led police to a warehouse that contained more than 2,800 kilograms (6,200 pounds) of liquid ammonium nitrate and other materials that can be used to make explosives.

Thai authorities have accused Hussein of links to Hezbollah militants. Hussein has claimed innocence in the case.

On Wednesday, the court found Hussein guilty and sentenced him to two years and eight months in prison.

His conviction comes three weeks after a Thai court convicted two Iranians of involvement in a 2012 botched bomb plot that officials believe was aimed at Israeli diplomats in Bangkok.
