VIENNA – Diplomats say Iran and the U.N. nuclear agency have agreed to restart talks focused on the agency's attempts to probe suspicions that Tehran worked on atomic weapons.
It will be the first such meeting under centrist Iranian President Hasan Rouhani and will test his pledge to reduce international confrontation over Iran's nuclear program.
The diplomats told The Associated Press on Wednesday the long-deadlocked negotiations will resume Sept. 27 and will focus on part of Iran's Parchin military site, which the U.N.'s International Atomic Energy Agency has long tried to access.
Iran denies working on atomic weapons at Parchin or anywhere else and says its nuclear program is peaceful.
The two Vienna-based diplomats who are experts on nuclear issues demanded anonymity because they were not authorized to reveal confidential IAEA information.
