A new video from an al-Qaida-linked Somali extremist group spotlights the stories of three Minnesota men who urge other Muslims to join them in battle.

But the trio died four years ago, not long after they joined al-Shabab to fight foreign troops who protected Somalia's United Nations-backed transitional government.

In "The Path to Paradise," a militant from Minneapolis says Somalia is "the best place to be." The video says he was killed in Sept. 2009.

Minnesota has one of the largest Somali populations in the United States and prosecutors say there is a "deadly pipeline" in which some in the U.S. send money and fighters to al-Shabab.

The video was released about the same time U.N. experts warned that the Internet propaganda programs of al-Qaida affiliates are becoming more sophisticated.
