A criminal court in Libya's western city of Misrata has sentenced a Gadhafi-era education minister to death for inciting violence during the 2011 civil war.

A judge on Wednesday found Ahmed Ibrahim guilty of inciting residents in Moammar Gadhafi's hometown of Sirte to form armed gangs and fight the rebels that were seeking the Libyan dictator's ouster.

According to Libyan law, he will be executed by a firing squad. No timeframe was given.
