LONDON – A British jury has convicted two men and a woman of stabbing a retired Indian general as revenge for a deadly assault on a Sikh temple.
A jury at London's Southwark Crown Court deliberated for an hour Wednesday before finding Mandeep Singh Sandhu, Dilbag Singh and Harjit Kaur guilty of wounding with intent to do grievous bodily harm. Another male suspect already pleaded guilty.
Lt. Gen. Kuldeep Singh Brar sustained a neck wound in what prosecutors called "a highly premeditated assault" as he walked with his wife in London in September 2012.
Prosecutors said the attack on the 78-year-old was revenge for his role in the 1984 assault on the Golden Temple in Amritsar, in which more than 1,000 people were killed.
The defendants will be sentenced in September.
