A report says a tornado has ripped through 10 villages in eastern Bangladesh, killing at least five people and injuring more than 100 others.

The Prothom Alo newspaper says the storm Friday uprooted large numbers of trees and destroyed many shops in Brahmanbaria district.

It said one child was among the dead.

The report said the storm cut train service in the area.
