Pakistani and Indian officials say that a Pakistani soldier was killed along the de-facto border separating Indian and Pakistani held Kashmir.

A Pakistani military official said in a text message to reporters on Friday that the soldier was reportedly killed on Thursday night after he'd accidentally crossed the line of control that separates the Pakistani and the Indian held sides of Kashmir region.

Lt. Col. Rajesh Kalia, a spokesman for the Indian army in Kashmir, says the soldier was killed in a firefight with Indian troops and an Indian soldier was injured.

He says the Pakistani soldier's body would be returned with "full respect."

In January, three Pakistani soldiers and two Indian soldiers were killed in a series of attacks along the line of control.
