Cayman Islands police say premier questioned for a 2nd day in corruption probe

GEORGE TOWN, Cayman Islands – The leader of the Cayman Islands is back in police custody in the British Caribbean territory.

A statement from the Royal Cayman Islands Police Services says Premier McKeeva Bush is being questioned for a second straight day in a corruption probe. Wednesday's statement gives no details on the investigation and no charges have been filed against the premier.

Bush was arrested at his home Tuesday and later released on bail. Police said the 57-year-old is being investigated for possible misuse of his government credit card and abusing his office by importing explosive devices without valid permits.

Police in the offshore finance haven revealed last April that they had been investigating allegations of financial irregularities involving him since late 2010. Bush has called the investigations politically motivated.
