Syrian rebels claim they have taken control of a government military base near the country’s border with Turkey.
Video released showed rebels inside the 7-square mile facility in Orum al-Sughra, near the city of Aleppo, where they took 18 loyalists of President Bashar Assad prisoner, the opposition said in a statement to Reuters.
The Aleppo Media Centre said tanks and military officers were also seized, but no independent verification of the statement is available.
The base is reportedly used to conduct artillery strikes on towns in villages in Aleppo and Idlib province.
