BAGHDAD – Iraqi authorities say gunmen have killed two policemen in an attack on a security checkpoint north of Baghdad.
Police say the attack took place early Friday. Gunmen opened fire on a group of policemen at a checkpoint in Buhriz. Two other policemen were wounded.
Buhriz, a former insurgent stronghold, is about 60 kilometers (35 miles) north of Baghdad.
A medic in a nearby hospital confirmed the casualties.
Violence has ebbed in Iraq, but attacks against security forces are still frequent.
